The Mandalorian Fan at the Convention
In the humorous movie, a Star Wars fan dressed as the character Boba Fett will meet friends at a convention. Using the phone’s Find and Your Friends feature, he locates the rest of his Mandalorian clan in a crowded space filled with other costumed fans. The three-minute ad, directed by Kim Gehrig, is packed with Star Wars easter eggs.
Dia de Star Wars Celebration
The origin of Star Wars Day goes back to the informal tribute ‘May the fourth be with you,’ a clever pun on the iconic phrase of the saga, ‘May the force be with you.’ The joke emerged in the 1970s, shortly after the release of the first film in the franchise.
The term ‘May the Fourth Be With You’ started being used by fans to celebrate the culture and legacy of Star Wars, becoming a kind of greeting among saga fans. But the unofficial holiday really took off as it began to flourish in social media hashtags until the date was officially adopted by Lucasfilm, the company responsible for Star Wars.
Since then, every May 4th is an opportunity for Star Wars fans to gather, watch the movies, read the comics, play video games, dress up as their favorite characters, and share their passion for the saga.
Star Wars Day also offers brands the chance to connect with the audience and generate positive engagement through product creations and campaigns. For instance, Disney is re-releasing all nine films of the ‘Saga Skywalker’ in selected theaters in the United States to celebrate the 25th anniversary of ‘The Phantom Menace’.
The Acolyte: Star Wars’ New Series
On June 4th, the first two episodes of The Acolyte, the new Star Wars series on Disney+, will premiere. The show is set 100 years before the events in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. It will be the first live-action of the saga to explore a period of the chronology known as the High Republic.
It’s the Star Wars Renaissance, a time of prosperity in the galaxy where peace is maintained by the Jedi Order. In the series, an investigation into a wave of crimes will lead the Jedi towards a conflict with far more sinister forces than they could expect.
The Acolyte features a fantastic cast, including Lee Jung-jae, Amandla Stenberg, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, and Carrie-Anne Moss. Check out the trailer.
